The 2.6 kilometre transmission line corridor in Melbourne's outer west.
The 2.6 kilometre transmission line corridor in Melbourne’s outer west.

A network of transmission lines stretch over 6,500 kilometres throughout Victoria. Underneath these towers and wires, there is a strict no-build overlay on the land. This has resulted in the infrastructure creating a linear condition that intersects and contrasts the built fabric it encounters.

Along an Easement explores the exchange created by a 2.6 kilometre transmission line corridor in Melbourne’s outer west against the suburban milieu that surrounds it. Through a process of understanding the as-found environment of this remnant land, the project seeks to enhance the dialogue between infrastructure, landscape and society.

This exhibition takes place within twenty minutes walking distance from the 2.6 kilometre transmission line corridor. Visitors to the exhibition can experience the subject site with walking maps provided by ttt.city.
