The future of iterative registered design protection Past Event

Presented by IP Australia & the Design Institute of Australia

Iterating can be fundamental to designing great products. Design registration is part of the intellectual property (IP) system in Australia which allows designers to protect the visual appearance of their products. However, this protection often does not align with iterative design in practice.

This workshop asks ‘what might a registered designs system that protects iterative design look like?’ We will invite participants to explore and test prototype models of how iterative design protection could work for the industry, and contribute directly to the Australian Government’s ongoing work.
