The Capitol: Copper Traces in Time – Hold Past Event
Copper Traces in Time: Hold is a response to the unprecedented times we currently live in, through storytelling and the creation of hand held copper discs. The surface of each disc is etched with images from RMIT student and staff experiences during COVID-19. These images were collaged together, etched into a copper plate and printed on paper using copper ink before the plate was cut into the discs.
Copper surfaces have been shown to have antimicrobial properties with COVID-19 no longer detected on it after only 4 hours.
While the virus is active the copper discs will be a reminder to act with care. Once the virus has abated the discs will be markers of this time which has drastically changed the way people live and will continue to affect our future.
Come and share a story of your COVID-19 experience and receive a copper disc.
