Red Moon Contemporary Art Glass Gallery views the role of art and design as that which permeates everything, trickling through every gap like grains of sand. The art of glass sculpture emerges from those foundational grains of sand; ideas pressed, blown, cut and polished into physical representations of thoughts and feelings. To look at glass sculpture is also to look through it. The qualities of glass encourages meditation on the role of design as we move into a new kind of world. It exists at once both solid and transparent, allowing light to pierce through it and into our lives, as well as allowing our gaze to pierce back. Many of our artists and designers work with recycled glass, creating sculptures that embody the idea of environmental awareness as a feature of design.
