Lindsay’s contemporary textile art has moved a long way from its beginnings in Crewel embroidery, based on exotic and lavish 17th century Jacobean floral designs.
A few years ago, she developed a textile collage technique layering fabric, re-purposed old doilies and lace, and stitch to create richly coloured and textured abstract designs. Recently she has been drawn back to the distinctive motifs of Jacobean embroidery.
In this discussion, Lindsay explains the technique she refers to as textile collage and how she uses it to re-imagine Jacobean motifs.
