Monty to Monty Past Event

Presented by Kerli Valk & Bradley Mitchell
Monty to Monty

The suburbs we live in are a reflection of our communities. Monty to Monty is an architecture exhibition narrating new visions for the suburb of Montmorency.

The past year has kept everyone in local bubbles but this has enlightened us to the offerings of our surrounding environment and the contributions we can all make. Our suburbs are continuous narratives with generations of memories continuously added to their streets, homes and public places. These shared experiences bring us together.

The exhibition of scaled models each explore local history from the suburb’s past to offer new social utility for today’s community in public spaces. The speculative structures present an opportunity to look inwards to our local social environments and what they can contribute. They intend to offer possibilities for the strengthening of social capital and cohesion, and to nurture ideas of resident initiated and led projects; new places to empower people, encourage wider participation, interactions and capturing imaginations, prompting us to have conversations about the life of our suburbs.
