Gippsland Lakes with Skipper Pete Past Event

Presented by Centre for Architecture | Open House Melbourne

After a full day of ‘creative entrepreneurship’ talks at the Slipway Sheds, join us for a guided boat tour of Lakes Entrance with local identity Skipper Pete, former national park ranger and professional Eco-Tourism Australia guide.

Taking a starting point from the Post Office Jetty, past the fishing fleet, we will tour past the New Work Cottages and hear about their significant history, learn about the engineering and water-management challenges in creating the ‘entrance’ to the Gippsland Lakes, and make our way past Rigby Island, Fraser Island and Metung before returning to Lakes Entrance.

Waterfront is proudly presented by Centre for Architecture Victoria | Open House Melbourne, in partnership with Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and East Gippsland Shire Council.
