reFrame: Book Club Past Event

Presented by Monash University Art Design and Architecture

Join the Monash University Department of Design to celebrate the recent publications by its staff. Across the multiple—and porous—fields of design they have produced a range of publications that help reframe design scholarship to locate new engagements with cities, gender, transport, histories and futures. Gene Bawden, Author of Comfort and Judgement: Nineteenth Century Advice Manuals and the Scripting of Australian Identity, will be in conversation with architect, Charity Edwards to decipher the permanency of design’s impact dating from Australia’s fraught colonial projects.

Gene Bawden, Head of the Department of Design, Monash University Art Design and Architecture

Charity Edwards, Architect, Lecturer and Director of Public Programs, Department of Architecture, Monash University Art Design and Architecture

Charity Edwards is a lecturer and urban researcher in the Department of Architecture at Monash University. Charity’s research explores destructive, uneven, and ’more-than-human’; impacts of urbanisation and climate change at the scale of the planet.
